Capturing the beauty of Maine, Florida, and the Caribbean through photography and naturalist insights

A Little About Me

Born in the heart of central New Jersey, I was raised with a stream in my backyard and a deep love for all things wild. As a kid, my best friends were baby box turtles, salamanders, and tadpoles—my very own amphibious entourage. Summers whisked me away to the rocky coast of Maine, where I explored tidal pools near Rachel Carson’s cottage, dreaming of one day writing my own “Edge of the Sea.”

Winters found me on Culebra Island, off Puerto Rico, where in the early ’70s, I helped kickstart one of the first Turtle Watch programs. My passion for wildlife even led me to study rhesus macaques on Cayo Santiago in 1980—yes, I have a thing for monkeys, too!

After a stint in administration at Princeton University, I moved full-time to Culebra in 1997. There, I embraced ecological conservation, snorkeled or scuba dived daily, and educated visitors about the wonders of mangroves, coral reefs, and the tiniest of sea creatures, plankton.

In 2003, health challenges prompted a move to the coast of Maine, where I was diagnosed with PTSLMD (Chronic Late Stage Lyme). Undeterred, I pursued my passion for photography under the mentorship of renowned photographers George DeWolfe and John Paul Caponigro. I began teaching photography at River Arts Gallery and local Land Trusts.

By 2019, I had a second home on the East Coast of Florida. My commitment to nature led me to volunteer at Canaveral National Seashore, where I earned Volunteer of the Year in 2023 and special recognition from Law Enforcement. That same year, I proudly became a certified Florida Master Naturalist through the University of Florida.

Now, I combine my love for nature and photography, offering mentoring services that blend professional expertise with a lighthearted touch. Whether you’re drawn to the tranquil beauty of tidal pools or the intricate details of a turtle’s shell, I’m here to guide you on your journey through the lens and the wild.
